Too many laws…

Saw this in London this week…

“Too many laws; too few examples”

Damn right.

With so few heroes, you’ve got to be your own.

I guarantee you peace

Posted by The Hedolist on August 18, 2006

Given, as we are right now, a daily media cocktail of far reaching unrest in the Middle East and alleged terror plots to blow us to pieces over the Atlantic mixed with fermenting immigration issues, and you have to agree - the outlook is not good for peace in our time.

Despite the sacrifices of my grandfather’s generation, I’ve heard it said that there are more wars being waged today than ever before. The peace prognosis is not looking very positive for our so-called civilisation.

When and how will peace ever prevail on this essentially beautiful earth?

(I know this is a health column - bear with me)

This is a world conditioned to look for answers ‘out there’ in the ways of technology, drugs and politics for example, but those methods of solving mankind’s challenges often just make more trouble - focusing, as they do, on symptoms and not root causes.

So I say the best chance we have of finding peace is to look within.

The answer to the peace problem, believe it or not, rests in meditation - the technique, when used correctly, countless individuals have employed to find peace, throughout the ages, whatever the external global conditions. And I can take you there - guaranteed.

Not unlike the Archbishop of York, Dr John Semantu, I’m on a peace mission. Yet unlike Dr John, I don’t have a cathedral, nor will I be forgoing a family holiday, relying on a liquid diet and I will not be shaving my head. And I certainly won’t be praying for peace.

I will instead be going to the heart of the matter and will be ‘being peace’- which for me is the essence of good health and wellbeing, both personal and planetary, and therefore the answer to many of our physical and emotional ills too.

What’s more, I hereby state - publicly and on the record - that I will teach anyone inspired by this message, how to meditate and find peace (as well as love and joy) for themselves - within. It’s not rocket science. It is however potentially as powerful, because meditation takes you deep into inner space.

Peace ‘out there’ will never last. The only lasting peace is found inside and it awaits you; silently, loyally and eternally. You just need the means to uncover it, which today I am promising to give you.

No, I’m not asking you to join a cult. No, I haven’t got messianic delusions of grandeur. I just know that the quickest way to find peace is to do-it-yourself. Fighting for peace is a worthless contradiction that many a peacemaker discovers the hard way.

No incense, no chanting, no bells, no robes, no shaved heads and no contorted lotus positions. Not even any Rolls Royces. Just a simple method of finding peace within that will give you, as it has given me - without fail, all the peace you could ever wish for.

If you want to learn and get relief from the relentless stress of externally-focused living with all its conflict, war and stress, email me at meditation@carlmunson.com or visit www.carlmunson.com for details of my teaching schedule.

Come on. Join me and ‘be peace’. Make that part of the world where you are a more pleasant place to be; for you and those around you. Make peace, meditate and be a beacon of all that’s good about life. Peace begins now.

Revolution is not in the air. It’s in your heart.

Posted by The Hedolist on August 11, 2006

Whether you believe in conspiracy theories, or not, clearly there’s some sort of plot at work to hold you back from your true potential.

At school, most schools anyway, you get put into a box; you are trained, as some wag out it, to “stay quiet between 9 and 5 for forty years”. The world soon comes down on you as you are encouraged to “put away your childish things”.

Then at work, as you embark on the 40-year plan, do you really believe your employer has your best interests at heart? No, of course not. They buy you at wholesale price (your salary) and put you on the market at retail value, when you’re out there “shaking your money-maker”, adding to their profits not yours.

As a citizen, the low-level ‘conspiracy’ of meeting the cost of living is stacked against you. Fuel prices, taxes, mortgages, loans and consumerism somehow manage to keep you busy, ‘making a living’ and staying ahead of the game. Some game.

You might feel you are winning some of the time, but if you take an honest look at “the system”, the odds are stacked against you; the system is configured, not for your benefit, but for the benefit of those who rely on you playing the game.

This could sound like revolutionary talk. It is in a way. But the system is ok - it holds things together and any ideas of political change or even overthrow are not the smart way to escape the destiny of the ‘drone citizen’.

No. Drones are necessary and the seemingly unholy alliance they have created with their masters is all part of the great play.

The intelligent question is: “Do you want to be a drone?”

It’s ok to say yes. Go ahead, play your part nicely and make terms in the trade-off. It works for many people most of the time. It’s OK.

If you say “no”. You are part of a silent majority that sees through the droning conspiracy. You may be in it, to coin a phrase, but you are not of it.

You are ready for the revolution.

But it won’t be on the streets.

This time, the revolution is of the heart. When you are ready, you’ll break a few ties; make a few changes from within, and the results will manifest outside, in time.

No mass bloodbath or firing squads. Although there may be some death - mainly of ideas, attachments and situations.

The drone world will inevitably have its ups and downs and will surely collapse as all civilisations are destined to do. With your sense of spirituality, You have an opportunity not to be stuck to its up, down and over-the-hills-and-far-away journey.

You have a choice…

If you think revolution out there is possible, go ahead, give it a go. It will take all you can give and by being at war, you’ll be part of the very problem you sought to overcome in the first place. Political process isn’t dead exactly, it just deadens whoever seeks to take part in it. Why waste your precious life?

The smart money is on a revolution of the heart.

It’s a quiet, almost invisible, though no less painful process than political revolution. But it’s so real; so beautiful, When all that encased and suffocated your heart is chipped away, re-connecting you with the truth of life. With real, deep, everlasting love. And absolute clarity and freedom to see through the drone world you’ve finally left behind.

Life is GOOD

Posted by The Hedolist on August 10, 2006

It’s been a while. But lunch with the Goddess and an unfettered few hours with all that’s good in life reminded me…Life is GOOD!

It always is. It’s just that I, you, we forget that it is.

Behind our pathetic little worries, the glory of life, love and all that is good is waiting for us.

Connect with it! It’s yours.

Oh Goddess Where Art Thou?

Posted by The Hedolist on August 2, 2006

I went to the Eden Project in Cornwall today. Pretty impressive. Too many signs telling me what to do however and guilt trips about what a mess we’re making of the planet. Took my 10-year old daughter who I am sure needs no further reminders, having been told what a bad person she is since starting school - destroying the planet, needing to get good grades, not eating the right things, not bullying people… Oh God help us!

Anyway, got inspired by Felix Dennis the other day (ex-hippy turned millionaire cum poet) and ended up writing some verse of my own dedicated to ‘woman’ and especially the Pukka Angel who - as I predicted - broke my heart, but taught me loads (that’s the Goddess doing her thing) Thank YOU!!

Here’s my effort:

Oh Goddess Where Art Thou?

Each one a goddess
That’s what women be
Candy floss round divine stick
Is her personality

Yet the stick is what I’m after
‘neath her worldly frets and fears
But confection ‘pon the holy rod
Will suffice til she appears
